TOPICS
Seven topics, in the order they are taught
Taken from the official GATE 2027 syllabus. Each topic has notes, the formulas you need, its previous-year questions with the official answers, most of them solved step by step, and practice questions.
Diode circuits: clipping, clamping, rectifiers and regulators
Diode circuits use the diode's one-way conduction to shape waveforms and supply power: clippers limit a waveform, clampers shift it, rectifiers and filters turn ac into dc, multipliers raise the dc level, and Zener regulators hold it steady.

BJT and MOSFET biasing and DC analysis
Biasing sets a transistor's quiescent operating point (Q-point): the DC currents and voltages the signal swings about, and on which every small-signal parameter (g_m, r_π, r_o) depends.

Small-signal amplifiers, frequency response, current mirrors and differential amplifiers
Small-signal analysis replaces each transistor by a linear model around its DC operating point: g_m, r_π and r_o for a BJT, g_m and r_o for a MOSFET.

Feedback amplifiers and oscillators
Feedback amplifiers and oscillators are one loop read two ways.

Op-amp circuits: characteristics, applications and compensation
Op-amp circuits use negative feedback to turn a very high-gain differential amplifier into amplifiers, summers, integrators, converters, precision rectifiers and log amplifiers.

Active filters, comparators, Schmitt triggers, timers, VCOs and PLLs
This topic covers the op-amp circuits that shape a signal's spectrum or turn it into switching and timing signals: first- and second-order active filters (Sallen-Key, Butterworth, band-pass, notch and all-pass), comparators and Schmitt triggers, op-amp and 555 multivibrators, square/triangle generators, VCOs and the phase-locked loop.

Noise, interference, shielding and grounding
Every measurement system has a floor set by random noise generated inside its own components (thermal, shot and flicker noise) and by interference coupled in from outside through conductive, capacitive and inductive paths.

QUESTIONS BY TOPIC AND YEAR
113 questions, by topic and year
How many questions each topic had in the EC, EE and IN papers of each year. This shows what was asked, not what will be asked. We placed each question under a topic ourselves; the exam paper does not label topics. Every question links back to its paper.

THE OFFICIAL SYLLABUS
What each paper lists under Analog Electronics
From the GATE 2027 syllabus PDFs. EC gives analog circuits a section of its own (Section 4, “Analog Circuits”) and so does IN (Section 6, “Analog Electronics”). EE prints it as the first part of Section 9, “Analog and Digital Electronics”. Only IN lists noise and interference in electronic circuits, shielding and grounding, so that topic is marked IN only. EC’s only mentions of noise and interference are white noise and inter-symbol interference, under Communications.
