Which one of the following options contains two solutions of the differential equation ?

ANSWER
Option (A): and are both solutions of .
Official answer: ASource: Official answer key, GATE 2020 EC (IIT Delhi)
The equation is variables separable: the right side is a function of multiplied by a function of .
For , separate the variables:
Integrate both sides: The coefficient of is , not , which rules out (B) and (D). (Check: differentiating gives , i.e. .)
Constant (equilibrium) solution: dividing by assumed , so must be checked separately. LHS and RHS , so satisfies the equation for every . It is not contained in for any finite , which is why it is listed as a second solution.
Check : LHS but RHS , which is not zero for . So is not a solution, which rules out (C).
The two solutions are and : option (A).
KEY IDEA
Separate the variables to get the general family . Then remember that dividing by threw away the case . Substituting it back shows that the constant is also a solution.
WATCH OUT FOR
There are two traps. One is getting the coefficient wrong when integrating (it gives , not ). The other is picking as the constant solution. The constant solution is the root of the -factor, , so it is . Put any candidate constant back into the equation: gives , which fails.
